M5A1 Stuart 1/48

The M5A1 light tank was developed as the successor to the M3 Stuart, the first mass-produced
in this category. Initially retaining the turret of the M3, the M5 had a welded body
with modifications to the sloping front armor and rear engine bay. Powered by
two V8 petrol engines, it reached a top speed of 58km/h. Subsequently, M5A1s were fitted with an upgraded
a modernized turret equipped with a 37mm cannon, larger hatches, rails supporting
and a 7.62mm machine-gun mount. Around 6,800 M5A1s were produced,
and, after initial combat in North Africa, were deployed on the new Italian front in
1943 and the Western Front in 1944
