A servo is an electro mechanical device. It receives orders from the receiver and converts is in a mechanical displacement of a rudder that turns on an axis. The position of the rudder is directly linked to the command given by the stick of the transmitter. There are analog and digital servos, that each act differently with the supplied signal. In general the analog servos are less powerfull, less precise but cheaper. The digital servos are generally speaking more precise and powerfull and thus more expensive.
