The Centurion is a British heavy battle tank designed during WW2 to counter the German army's powerful tanks. It only entered service after the end of the conflict. About 2,800 examples were produced between 1948 and 1956. The Mk. III was perhaps the most successful variant of the Centurion, equipped with the L/66.7 20 pounder long barrel gun.
It was deployed during the Korean War in 1950, during which it demonstrated its superiority, repeatedly returning unfavorable situations to the allies. After the Korean War, the Mk. IIIs were deployed in European countries but also in other nations such as India, Israel and Egypt.
