The ESCs for brushless motors can be recognized immediately by the three wires wich feed the motor. They are mostly called brushless controllers. They can be equipped with a BEC wich feeds the controller, or without a BEC and in that case we talk about "OPTO" controllers. The controller have to be chosen in function of the power, but also the motorconsumption in important.
Our advice : Always overdimensionate the controller lightly. Add 20% of the normal use to not overuse the controller. Example : If the motor uses 50A than choose one who can take 60A)
The brushless controllers for cars can have the forward, backward and brake function sometimes its not possible to use the brake and the backward together. You can mount a fan to cool down your controller.
